What is stress?





Definition of Stress

Stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses. 

In a medical or biological context stress is a physical, mental, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension. Stresses can be external (from the environment, psychological, or social situations) or internal (illness, or from a medical procedure).


What are the types of stress?

Types of stress
  • Acute stress. Acute stress is the most common type of stress. ...
  • Episodic acute stress. When acute stress happens frequently, it's called episodic acute stress. ...
  • Chronic stress. If acute stress isn't resolved and begins to increase or lasts for long periods of time, it becomes chronic stress.


What are the causes of stress?

Examples of life stresses are:
  • The death of a loved one.
  • Divorce.
  • Loss of a job.
  • Increase in financial obligations.
  • Getting married.
  • Moving to a new home.
  • Chronic illness or injury.
  • Emotional problems (depression, anxiety, anger, grief, guilt, low self-esteem)

Managing your stress can make a real difference to your health. One study showed that women with heart disease lived longer if they underwent a stress management program.



What are psychological and emotional signs of stress?
  • Depression or anxiety.
  • Anger, irritability, or restlessness.
  • Feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, or unfocused.
  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much.
  • Racing thoughts or constant worry.
  • Problems with your memory or concentration.
  • Making bad decisions.

Normally we think about this as a very small word or an expression,but it is affecting our lives so deeply and badly .

Please do something for that and come out as soon as you can or even learn to manage it well.
